@byrootandsignalRooted work gets lost without a signal.
Brand, web and social for small businesses and creators ready to be found.
Currently booking two new projects.
Brand.
Identity, voice and visual systems that hold up across every surface.
Web.
Sites designed and built for businesses that need to convert, not just exist.
Social.
Strategy, content and management for brands ready to grow with intent.
Selected work.
Hadley-Grave Accounting & Tax
Site for an accounting and tax practice. Clarity over flash built so a small business owner can find what they need and reach out without friction.
Ideal Green Grove
Came to me at 200 followers with a logo, two brand colours, and not much else. Built the visual system from scratch templates first, then motion graphics once we knew what was landing. They didn't always know what they wanted, which is half the job. We figured it out together.
Bonamanzi Resort & Marina
Site for a resort and marina, built around booking enquiries. Clean wayfinding, mobile-first, photography given room to breathe.
Robshaw Properties
Came in when they were already well established strong feed, good engagement, weak visual cohesion. Tightened the design language, brought in a proper photographer, and made sure every post pointed somewhere useful. Awareness is one job. Conversion is the other.

I struck gold when Liam responded to my Instagram cry for help when I needed a website and branding for my business. From our very first call, I could tell Liam was different. He had already taken the initiative to create demo website layouts and branding concepts before I had even provided detailed feedback.
What stood out most was how well he listened to my ideas and transformed them into something even better than I had imagined. He was incredibly patient in presenting multiple variations and refining them until everything felt just right. No request was ever too much.
Liam has an exceptional ability to create a brand that feels both polished and personal. He helped bring Hadley-Grave Accounting and Tax to life with a look that is professional, elegant, and uniquely reflective of both my vision and his creative expertise.
The response from my clients has already been overwhelmingly positive. The website and branding have elevated my business in ways I hadn't anticipated, and I couldn't be happier with the result.

We started with a logo and not much else. Liam built the whole visual identity from scratch and showed real patience while we figured out what we even wanted. The page actually feels like us now.
Sharper visuals, better photography, and a proper plan behind every post. Liam picks up things we wouldn't have thought to ask for. Easier than managing it ourselves.

Liam Yates, Cape Town.
Root & Signal is a one-person studio for small businesses and creators who'd rather pay for attention than for templates. Brand, web, and social full stack, not full agency.
The studio exists because most small businesses don't need a marketing department. They need someone who'll think before they post, build a site that does one job well, and actually pick up when they call. I work with a few clients at a time, on purpose. Considered work over churn is the whole point, and there's no version of that maths that includes overloading the calendar.
If you read briefs twice and remember what your customers said last month, we'll get on. If you want fifty posts by Friday for R3k, you'll want someone else.
Let's get rooted.
A short discovery call. We'll talk about what you need, what it'd cost, and whether we're a fit. No pitch, no pressure.
